Obituary of Stephen Haines Bruen Jr.

His Legacy……Stephen Haines Bruen III was born on July 29, 1943 in Los Angeles, California to Stephen and Chelsea (Hancock) Bruen. Stephen passed away January 26, 2021 in Roseville, California. Steve lived a life that was full of love for his family and friends. Spending his early childhood in Duluth/St. Paul Minnesota area he fell in love with playing ice hockey and continued that passion throughout his life. Golf was another passion he had and talent for helping a fellow golfer with their swing when they were struggling. Steve graduated from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, California in 1961. Steve enlisted in the Army in 1962 where he served in the ASA as a Morse intercepted operator then promoted to a teletype intercepted operator. After honorably serving his country, he settled back in California to start a family of his own with Justine (LeBlanc). His first born, Stephen IV, was born in 1969 followed by James (Jamie) in 1972. Steve was a knowledgeable coach, in both baseball, soccer who helped to shape young athletes from the late 70’s and through the 1980’s. If Steve was not playing or watching a sport you would find him behind the lens of a camera. He enjoyed documenting his family and friends and travels through pictures. Steve also had a magic touch with roses. Working for USPS as a clerk he would display his fragrant beauties for all to enjoy. Later in life he fell in love and married Lorinda (Alves). With this marriage he gained the love of her two children, Jennifer and J.D. As life continued his family grew to include more loved family members through marriages and births. His Family.....Steve is survived by his loving wife Lorinda; his sons, Stephen IV and Jamie (Jody) Bruen; stepson J.D. Lawson; stepdaughter, Jennifer (JC) Swan; grandchildren; Stephen Bruen V, Chelsea Bruen, Drew Swan, Jules Swan and Tyler Meyer; and his sister Patty Collett Swaffield. He is preceded in passing by his father, mother, stepfather and brother. His warm smile and twinkling eyes will be truly missed by all who know and loved him.
