Obituary of Betty Blanche Taylor

Betty Blanche Taylor, 90 years, peacefully passed away on January 1st, 2021 at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. She was born February 13th, 1930 in Biggs, CA to her parents, William “Smokey” and Doris Sharpe. She attended Biggs High School, Yuba College, and Chico State. On May 28th, 1949 she married her devoted husband Thomas J. Taylor . They were married 71 years. On December 14th, 1950 they welcomed their daughter Dianna Lee Taylor who gave Betty and Tom three grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. During WWII, Betty worked at Libby’s Cannery in Gridley, Ca. She then went on to work at Bank of America in Yuba City, Live Oak, and Gridley; retiring after 35 years. Betty was a part of many social groups. She was in Birthday Club, the Garden Club, and provided 21 years of service as a Pink Lady for Gridley Hospital. She and Tom loved to play cribbage with a highball or two, travel, spend time with family, and tinker around the garden. She was witty, classy, and the best dressed grandma around; always keeping up with current fashion and beauty trends until her final days. Everyone who knew her loved to spend time with her; especially her husband Tom. Betty is survived by her loving husband Tom Taylor; her daughter and son-in-law Dianna and Patrick Gordon, and her grandchildren: Wendy Higgins, P.J. Gordon, Katie O’Donnell, their spouses, and 5 great grandchildren. Betty will be missed forever. A graveside service will be held on Friday January 8th, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this Spring once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and a larger gathering is allowed.
