Obituary of Bertie Lou Stohlman
The family of Bertie Stohlman of Gridley is deeply saddened by her passing. She passed away on November 30, 2020 at Hovlid Community Care Center. She was 90 years old. A lifelong Gridley resident, Bertie was born at home on December 15, 1929.
During her years at Gridley High School, she was elected head cheerleader by her fellow students. Shortly after her graduation in 1947, Bertie married Bill Stohlman. They were married for 49 years, until Bill passed away on September 30, 1996. Bertie was a homemaker and mother, a member of Thursday Circle for over 30 years, a member of the Gridley Presbyterian Church, a 4-H and Cub Scout leader, and a room mother.
She was a dedicated and loving mother to her two children, Bill Stohlman Jr. (Kris) and Sharon Wadsworth, both of Gridley, and an equally caring and cherished grandmother to her three grandchildren, Ethan (Jessica) and Michael Stohlman of Gridley and Heidi Larson (Greg) of Sacramento, and her great-granddaughter Sage Stohlman. She never missed her grandsons’ Little League games when they were growing up. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Frank Stenzel (Shirley) of Gridley, and her very special nephew, Michael Riley (Mona) of San Rafael.
Bertie was a devoted, giving, and warm woman with a great sense of humor. She made friends wherever she went, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
