I met Sy when I was about 15 years old, working at the Chico Airport. That was about 29 years ago. He and I maintained a friendship while I grew up, moved away and had my family. I spoke with Sy after the fire took his home in Paradise, but I hadn't been in contact with him in the past year or so. Last Sunday I tried to call him but his phone was disconnected. Today (Monday the 24th) I received word that he had passed away. I wish I would have gotten to talk to him one last time. I am so glad I have one of his old flight jackets and a watch he gave me when I was a kid. I wish I had some pictures of him. I will miss my friend.
