Twyla Yvonne Yates September 24, 1928 July 6, 2020 Her Legacy: Twyla Yvonne Yates was born on September 24, 1928 in Bandon, Oregon to Harry and Thelma Warren. Twyla passed away on July 6, 2020, in Oroville, California. She met and married the love of her life, Wally Yates on August 6, 1946 in Bandon, Oregon and they spent the next 68 years together making and providing a loving home for their children. She worked for the Oroville Police Department as a dispatcher becoming the secretary to the Chief of Police for 22 years. After retiring, she shared her love for ceramics by opening up her own ceramic shop, Twy’s. Twyla loved to bake and became known for her specialty, Pineapple Cream, which was served on her pumpkin pies for every holiday along with her persimmon cookies. She will be remembered by family and friends as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Her Family: Twyla is survived by her sons: Gordon and wife Christl of Oroville, CA; Michael and wife Sandy of Yuba City, CA; and her sister: Beverly Cudd of Spartanburg, South Carolina; her 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wally, her daughter, Linda Slavik, and her sister, Dorene Wood. Her Farewell Service: There will be a visitation at Oroville Funeral Home, 1454 Montgomery Street, on Friday, July 10 from 4 to 7 pm. A private family burial will be on July 14.
