Obituary of Richard R. Bartolome

Riccardo (Richard) Raffaele Bartolome' was born on November 28, 1938 in Illinois. Cherished by his parents; Nando and Georgia Bartolome'. He learned the truth when he was 32 years old. He lived in the same home in Roseville California since he was 10 years old. He also lived in San Francisco for 9 years and worked as a pipefitter. After his father passed away, he lived with his mother in Roseville and cared for her until her death in 1989. They were both baptized on the same day, on May 23 1970. Richard did not know that the woman that would become his cherished wife was also baptized on that same day. Richard traveled to Italy 3 times because he wanted to marry an Italian woman and where did he find her – in Sacramento California. He met his future bride at a convention in 1986. He has seen her from afar. He brought his mother down and sat her right next to Patricia and her mother. He instructed his mother to find out everything she could about Patricia and during the lunch break, he came down and introduced himself, and then again after the convention day. They took their time getting to know each other. But one day he came to her house, asked her children if he could marry her. He handed her a red rose with a piece of paper wrapped around the stem and an engagement ring around the paper. On one side written in Italian and the other side in English, the words, "Beautiful Lady in love… will you marry me." They married on March 3, 1990 For the first 15 years they lived is his house in Roseville, then they moved to Idaho from 2005 to 2014. On Oct. 4, 2014 they moved to Paradise California. Richard loved the guitar and played beautifully since he was 15 years old. He played for weddings and in restaurants as many here know. He was also a kind gentle and generous man. Many don't know that he loved to cook. He learned the Old Italian gourmet dishes, but he would say… "Common fare dishes." Richard loved his family and the congregation but he especially loved his God, Jehovah. Richard was 77 years old and easily tired. So in Paradise he would sit at the literature cart with the brothers on a regular basis. He enjoyed it immensely. He would come home eager to tell his wife all the wonderful experiences he had learned. He was so anxious for Jehovah's kingdom to come and cure our woes. He leaves behind his wife Patricia of 25 years, his step-children Michelle Koshman and Albert Lindsay, and their spouses Ken and Tessie. He also leaves many family members in Chicago as well. Richard passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2016. Private funeral services will be held to honor his life. Arrangements are entrusted to Oroville Funeral Home (530) 533-0323.
