Obituary of Geraldine Ruth Cooper
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine “Gerry” Cooper on March 10, 2020. Gerry was born August 28, 1933 in Eveleth, Minnesota.
As a young girl, she moved with her mother to Redondo Beach, California. She graduated Redondo Union High School and met the love of her life, James Cooper. Together they raised two sons in Sacramento, CA. Gerry enjoyed gardening. She took pride with her involvement in the community school’s P.T.A. and she taught Sunday school to the children at a local church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, James. After his death, Gerry volunteered her time at the Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento.
Gerry enjoyed traveling with her longtime companion, Robert Evans. Together they visited numerous destinations and became quite the travelers.
Gerry is survived by her sons Larry and David (Teresa), Grandchildren Paul, Katlyn and Andrew, Great Grandchildren James, Ryleigh and Julian. She was a devoted wife, mother and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Gerry was a strong, loving and courageous woman who spoke her mind. Our matriarch will be deeply missed.
A private interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery, Paradise CA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
