Obituary of Sis Hogeboom
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sis Hogeboom. She was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Red Bluff, CA to William and Celia Lynk. She had 5 brothers and 1 sister. She and her twin brother were the youngest of the 7 siblings.
The family moved from Colusa when Sis was 17 years old. She graduated from Gridley High in 1944 and resided in Gridley until her death on March 8, 2020. She married Dean Hogeboom in 1948 and together had 4 children.
As a teen during WWII, sis was a volunteer observer for the Aircraft Warning Services. She worked locally at King’s Market, Brown & Co., Libby’s Cannery, and finished her career at Dr. Adrian Sears medical office. She was an active member of the community and was recognized for her years of service. In 2008 she received Gridley Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award, and 2015 Orchard Hospital Auxiliary award for 39 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Sis is survived by Deana (Joe) Morris, Lynn (Gene) Duffy, Wendy Wilson, Kirk (Kerri) Hogeboom, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sis's honor to the Orchard Hospital Foundation at https://www.orchardhospital.com/about-orchard/foundation/ways-of-giving
