Diane Marr

Obituary of Diane Cleo Marr

Her Legacy… It is with great sadness that the Marr family announces the passing of their matriarch, Diane Marr on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Diane graduated from Oroville Union High School in 1951; she was a member of Job’s Daughters and Beta Sigma Phi. She attended Sacramento Junior College and was employed by the State of California prior to moving to Oroville, where she met and married Uel “Cork” Marr Jr. on April 11, 1954. In April of 1955, they welcomed their first son, Craig, followed by their second son Bradley, in April of 1961. Diane lived for her boys- she attended every sports game, kept every picture, and hosted birthday parties for the boys well into their twenties. The family welcomed three grandchildren between 1988 and 1989. In 1994, never one to stand on the sidelines, Diane started volunteering in her granddaughter’s kindergarten class at Eastside Elementary.  She followed Eastside on their move to Stanford Avenue Elementary, where she continued to volunteer for the next twenty five years. Diane found an extended family in the children and teachers alike that loved her and cherished the time she spent there. If she wasn’t in the classroom, she could be found “coaching” professional sports teams from her living room chair- and heaven help you if golf was the only thing on TV. Diane was the glue that held her family together. The size of her personality could only be outdone by the size of the legacy she leaves behind.

Her Family… She is survived by her two sons, Craig Marr, and Bradley Marr and his wife Gina Marr, three grandchildren, Douglas Marr, Alyssa Palomino, and Chelsey Marr, five great-grandchildren, Brook Marr, Declan Marr, Mayana Palomino, Brielynn Palomino, and Carli Marr, as well as hundreds of children she mentored at Eastside and Stanford Avenue schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Cleo Taber, her brothers Robert and Harold Taber Jr., and her husband, Uel B. Marr Jr.
