Obituary of Randall Robin Dodson
His Legacy… Randall “Robin” Dodson passed away on December 2, 2019, in Oroville, California, after a courageous battle with cancer. Robin was born on October 4, 1946, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, California, to Randall Loy Dodson and Geraldine Barbara Dodson. Robin left this world from his home surrounded by the love of family. As Robin reached the final chapter in his life, he was able to spend quality time with his family and reflect on a life well-lived. Robin was kind, intelligent, a protector, fiercely loyal, creative, detailed, dedicated to his family, and a man of integrity. Robin was a true adventurer at heart. Robin had a passion for the outdoors, exploring Mother Nature and everything she provided, hunting, fly fishing, and backcountry hiking. He also enjoyed participating in outdoor sports, such as motorcycle and automobile racing, and competitive sports as a child. He had a passion for learning, research, and was the go-to guy when solving a problem. His wife referred to him as her walking Google. Many of his friends referred to him as Wizard Rob. Robin will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him. Robin joined the United States Navy and served honorably. He excelled in aviation technician school and ranked third in his class of nearly one hundred students landing him his choice of deployment. Robin became the lead mechanic for the jet engine maintenance division of Naval Air Station Lemoore. Robin credits this position as potentially “saving his life” during the Vietnam War. After the Navy, Robin worked as a Process Engineer and Manager for the fruit and tomato production facilities of Contadina in Hanford and Pacific Coast Producers in Oroville. He was extremely skilled in many areas with an emphasis on very technical electrical and control systems. Robin was instrumental driving force that led many major plant expansion projects and implemented new technologies and many significant process systems improvements. Robin was a capable leader and dedicated team member, Robin, was respected by vendors, subordinates, peers, and senior managers.
His Family… Robin is survived by his wife, Linda Dodson; his father Randall Dodson; his brother David Chad Dodson; his daughters Tracy Flanagan and Shawnie Hurte (Joseph); his sons David Dodson (Jennifer), Randy Dodson (Jamie), Patrick Dodson (Johanna), and Kristopher Dodson; brother in laws Joseph Johns (Susanne) and Gary Johns; nephew Adam Johns (Alisha); niece Lisa Hurst (Steve), and thirteen grandchildren. Robin is preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Dodson.
His Farewell Service… Family and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life gathering Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 10:30 am at the Ramsey Funeral Home located at 1175 Robinson Street in Oroville, California, with lunch following at the Grey Nurse Hardware located at 1359 Huntoon Street in Oroville, California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Robin by mail or online.
