Obituary of Murlene Elizabeth Hensley

Her Legacy… Our Mother Murlene was born on November 23, 1927 in Sugar Grove, Arkansas. She passed away on November 3, 2019 in Oroville, California. She was a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt. She and our father Hollie, made their home in Oroville for many years where she worked as a nurse and loved her job. She and her husband lived in Germany during the 80’s for two years where he worked for the European Agency of Prudential Insurance. They then came back to their home in Oroville where they stayed. Murlene was very family oriented and a great cook. She was active and enjoyed life, with many friends in the Oroville area and beyond. They enjoyed music, dancing, and water sports.

 

Her Family… Murlene is survived by her three daughters, Liz Handy of Chico, CA; Kim Brown of Oroville, CA; and Lyn Swihart of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by granddaughter Caroline of Chico and grandson Vann of Oklahoma City, with two great-granddaughters, Norah and Mina of Oklahoma City. She has two living sisters, Eva Pease of Fairfax, OK; and Gloria Waymire of Tulsa, OK; and her brother, Charles Garner and his wife Charlotte of OK. She is preceded in death by her husband Hollie, her parents, Archie & Orpha Garner, her sister, Pauline and her brothers Gerald and Harold Garner.

 

Her Farewell Service… A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson St. Oroville, CA. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Cherokee Cemetery, 3927 Cherokee RD Oroville, CA. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
