Obituary of Erwin Wayne Russell
His Legacy… Erwin Wayne “Bud” Russell was born May 28, 1926 in Hurleton, California and entered into eternal rest October 11, 2019, in Oroville, California, a life of 93 years well lived. Bud met his future wife Peg at an ice cream social held at the home of dear friends Jack and Joanne Powell of Thermalito. A very successful introduction it was, as the two were married in Reno, NV on July 4, 1952, with the marriage blessed at St. Thomas Catholic Church. The union resulted in 67 wonderful years of marriage. Bud had a distinguished 44 years career with Butte County Public Works Department, retiring in 1988. Two major projects of pride include the construction of Oro Dam Blvd and Olive Highway. As Foreman, Bud received top honors in 1972 for 25 years of safe driving, receiving a certificate and recognition in the Oroville Mercury Register. Family was of paramount importance. Bud and Peg planned special summer vacation trips when their children were young. Once they became “empty nesters”, Bud and Peg traveled extensively touring Ireland, the Caribbean, fall colors of New England, Alaska, Branson, MO, and local favorites Tahoe and Fort Bragg. Bowling was a favorite pastime. Bud received a plaque from the Oroville Bowling Association Hall of Fame for 40 years of dedicated bowling with Marcozzi Jewelers. Most of his bowling years were spent at the Central Lanes Bowling Alley. Bud also served his community as a Cal Fire volunteer fireman for several years.
His Family… His wife Peggy; daughter Deborah and husband Ross Powell; son Robert and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren Brandon Powell, Megan Russell, and Jessica McCready; and great grandchildren Julian, Bella, and Jayde McCready survive Bud. He also leaves behind loving "family" neighbors of 60 years Judy McInturf (husband Hack and son Jeff, deceased), Lynn McInturf Root and her son Zachary.
His Farewell Service… Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson Street, Oroville, California. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd. Oroville, California. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in Bud’s name would be greatly appreciated.
