Keni Maxine Titmus (1951-2019) was born Kexi Maxine Titmus on August 8, 1951 in Savannah, Georgia. She later changed her name to Keni. Keni was the only child of Major Kenneth Charles Edward Titmus (1915-1999) and Maxine Frustuk Titmus (1912-1972).
Since her father was a officer in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) which later changed to the United States Air Force, Keni spent her youth on military bases in Norway, Okinawa, Florida, Texas, and California. Even as a young girl, she was well educated, well spoken, and highly intelligent. As a young adult, Keni taught college courses in psychology at U.C. Davis.
Upon the death of her father, Keni inherited a family rental property to which she then added more properties. She retired from teaching and became a spirited landlord who maintained her properties while making a home in rural Butte County, California. Her interest in gold mining led her to drive her pickup truck out to her mining claims in order to excavate and extract gold with large equipment, barrels of water for sluicing, and personal grit.
In her later years, Keni kept her life and her health problems private. She lived and suffered to the end, on her own, and quietly passed away on September 3, 2019. Keni was predeceased by her cousins Trevor Vonk and Lannis Raffael. Upon her death, she was survived by her cousins Jon Titmus, Kimaree Gilad, Jacqueline Koenig, the late Lynn Crutcher, Karen L. Moran and Katina Desmond. Many thanks are given to the surviving cousins for their input to this obituary.
Keni was laid to rest with her father at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in Marin County, California on November 16, 2020. May she rest in peace.
