Obituary of Michael Anthony Herrera

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016, 10:30 AM, at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel for Michael Anthony Herrera, 33 of Yuba City. He passed away December 24, 2015 as a result of a car accident in Biggs CA. Michael was born on August 15, 1982 in Yuba City CA to Tina Marie Herrera and Gabriel Oliverez. He grew up in Gridley along with two brothers. They lived with their grandmother Connie, who raised and loved them unconditionally. Michael had many sweet nicknames, but Mikie was one he was most known by. Mikie loved the Raiders, enjoyed cooking, football, basketball and simply being outdoors. He had great love for music; there was nothing he wouldn’t sing and dance to. As a child he collected baseball cards and loved playing with his G.I Joe action figures. He attended Yuba College and was interested in pursuing firefighting professionally. He was a cook by trade and very good at it. His last job was a government postal carrier for Butte County. It was never a dull moment with Mikie. He was truly full of life and love. Michael was one out of six children and is survived by his mother Tina Marie, two brothers, Marcos, Frankie, three sisters, Andrea, Olivia, Veronica, five children, Dominic, Alize, Tony, Leilani, Izayah, and the love of his life Socorro. He will be loved and missed dearly. Gone but never forgotten! A visitation will be held, Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 5 to 8 pm at Gridley Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley. Tom Frazier, a family friend will be officiating the service.
