Obituary of Robert Gilmore Agee Jr.
Robert Gilmore Agee Jr. was born to Stella Atila (Denham) & Robert Gilmore Agee in Ludlow, Kentucky on December 18, 1934 and passed away on June 11, 2019 in Live Oak, California. He attended school in Beckley, West Virginia and first married Barbara Ann Lewis. After finishing high school, he entered the U.S. Army in 1955. He served roughly two years in Korea before returning to the states to Fort Gordon, Georgia and later to Fort Ord, California. Before being discharged in 1959, he earned the rank of Corporal in the Military Police. After his service was ended, the young family lived in Seaside where they ran the Seaside Inn. They also lived in Carmel, while he studied engineering at Monterey Peninsula College while he cleaned offices at night. After graduating, he worked for the City of Seaside for six months, before moving to Chico, California and then to Oroville, California where he worked for Butte County. Along the way, he bought some rental units on Grand Ave, while raising his family. He later married Dorothy Marie Cope of Anderson. During their marriage they lived in various communities in Northern California, Bakersfield, Galt, but always returned to Oroville. He was an active member of the LDS Church until his health prevented it.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy Agee, his sons, Dan, Gary, Steve and Kerry of Oroville, CA; and Matthew of California, his daughters, Amy Trunoske and Becky Simpson of Las Vegas, NV, his grandchildren, Kelly, Jessica, Alyssa and Kyle Agee, Dave and Devan Agee, Heather and Christopher Agee, Caroline and Johnny Trunoske, Jeanette, Bobby and Katie Simpson, as well as eight great grandchildren, his sister Betty Jo McClung of Beckley, WV; and her children, John David, Jeffrey, Robert and Patty.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 9:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 167 Table Mountain Blvd. Oroville, California. Funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. at the church with Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd Oroville, California. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
