In the 1960's, My 5th grade class was sent over to McKinley School from Sycamore School. I was very nervous about the switch, but Mr. Slagel had a way that actually made us feel extra special that day. So grateful for a principal that understood.

Sorry to hear about your passing. You were a kind man who cared about a troubled kid. I know it’s not a matter to you any more, but the spraypaint can was mine. I’m sorry.

My condolences Mrs Slage. I had the pleasure of meeting and learning from your husband. He was a good and fair man. Although I only spent third grade in his care... his demeanor was true.... and it made an impression on me that I remember to this day. Take care

Mr. Slagle was my principal at McKinley School when I was there in the early 80s. He was always so kind, fair & honest. I was sad to see that he wouldn't be the principal for my 3 sons. I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him with us while he was a teacher & principal. ❤

Mr. Slagle will be missed by many, he was a inspiration to many children. I remember the bird contest he had with the children, my husband helped our children and grand children with this for years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
