Obituary of Retha Ann Anderson

Retha “Ann” Anderson (née Biggs), 72, of Biggs, was called home to her Lord on April 25, 2019, with her loving husband at her side.

Born on May 25, 1946 in Fallbrook, CA to Welvie Biggs (née Pointer) and James Delton Biggs, Ann grew up in Geary and Stillwater, OK until the family moved back to California in 1956. She graduated from Biggs Union High School in 1964. On May 24, 1969 she married her classmate and childhood friend, USAF Sgt. Norris Eugene “Gene” Anderson, of Richvale, CA. The Anderson’s were stationed in Mountain Home, ID, and Colorado Springs, CO before returning to Biggs in 1975.

As a homemaker gifted in the arts of sewing, knitting, ceramics, and jewelry making, Ann often entered her works in the Butte County Fair, where she received many blue ribbons. She was a parent member of the school site council and the Biggs United Methodist Church choir for many years, as well as a member of the Feather River chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Along with her annual family vacation to Ft. Bragg, CA each summer, her greatest joys in life were her grandsons, Atticus and Levi, and she could often be overheard sharing with them her knowledge of various artistic endeavors as well as family history.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, J. D. Biggs. She is survived by her husband of 49 years and 11 months, Gene Anderson; her children, Charles Erik Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, and Jennifer Kirsten Anderson; grandchildren, Atticus Reagan and Levi Monroe Sprague; and sister, Emily Joyce Biggs, all of Biggs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing was held on Monday, April 29, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, and funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in the gazebo at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
