Obituary of Carlota Mendieta

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday April 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Gridley for Carlota Mendieta, 85 of Gridley. She passed away on Tuesday April 2, 2019 in Gridley.

She was born on October 31, 1933 in Guanajuato, Paracuaro, Mexico. She was a longtime resident of Gridley, having worked for Sierra Gold Nurseries in Yuba City for many years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was always helping others, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Secundino, and one grandson, Andy Mendieta Jr.

She is survived by her eight children, Rosa M. Jimenez, Sylvia Acevedo, Jamie Mendieta, Gustavo Mendieta, Elizabeth Pineda, Maria J. Amaya, Sandra Johnson, and Norma Mendieta-Navarro, four brothers, three sisters, seventeen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10 from 5 -6, followed by a Rosary at 6pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 530-846-2138.
