Obituary of Carol Jean Williams
Carol Jean Williams was born on September 15, 1942 to William John McDougall & Marjorie Helen Potterf McDougall in Los Angeles, California. She lived on Blue Street in Los Angeles and attended 116th Street School until 1949. The family then moved to Whittier, CA where she attended East Whittier and Ocean View Elementary School. She then attended East Whittier Jr. High. In 1956, she was one of the first students to attend the first year of the new California High School. She enjoyed participating in the Drill Team for two years at California High School. In 1959 she was in the Rose Parade with the Whittier Drill Team. In 1960 the family moved to Lompoc, CA where she finished the 12th year at Lompoc High School where she was in the last graduating class of the old Lompoc High School in 1960.
Carol worked at the Lompoc Hospital while still in the 12th grade. She met the love of her life, Stanley James Williams Jr. while he was visiting family in Lompoc. Carol and Stanley were married in 1962 they lived in Sacramento, Reno, Merced, and Lompoc before finally settling in Oroville in 1970. She also worked at St. Mary’s in Reno, and for Dr. Wilfred Olson and Dr. Slavin. She then changed professions and worked for Bank of America, Financial Network and Matthews, Bassett and Hutton CPA. She then started her own business of bookkeeping in 1995 and did that until she retired. She started an investment club in 1997.
Carol and Stanley had two children, Chris Allen Williams in 1962 and Kathy Eileen Williams in 1964. The family lived in Thermalito until 1971when they moved to their first home in the foothills of Oroville. Carol loved the solitude and they made this their home.
Carol made many friends in Oroville. She loved playing softball and volleyball in leagues. She enjoyed playing Bunco and played with the same ladies since 1972, these ladies became close and dear friends. She also enjoyed anything and everything that had to do with her grandchildren Madi & Mark.
Carol passed away on March 23, 2019 in Oroville, California surrounded by her family.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Stanley Williams of Oroville, CA; her son Chris Williams of Oroville, CA; her daughter Kathy (Mark) Nissen of Bakersfield, CA; her granddaughter Madison Nissen and grandson Mark Nissen Jr. also of Bakersfield, CA; her brother Bill McDougall and Eileen DeMaria of Lompoc, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents William & Marjorie McDougall.
