Robert Evans

Obituary of Robert Emil Evans

Robert Emil Evans, 87, passed away at his residence in Magalia, CA the morning of March 5, 2019. Bob was born March 30, 1931 on the family farm in Hayes Center, Nebraska to Vaughn Weimer Evans and Viola Inez Green Evans.

He moved from the farm with his parents at the age of 8 to Denver, Colorado before the family settled in Redondo Beach, CA. He has always been a prankster, but more so in his youth. He always enjoyed sharing these stories with family and friends. During high school, he enjoyed wood work and impressed his wood shop teacher where he became the model student for wood designs. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1949. While in high school he met his love, Joanne Shockey. Bob enlisted into the Navy in January 1951. On his first leave two months later, he married Joanne in Redondo Beach. He was stationed for almost 4 years on the USS Hamul in Osaka, Japan. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, the family moved to Paradise, CA where he owned Evans’ Cabinet Shop on Clark Road. Due to the poor economy, the family relocated and settled in Colton, CA where he continued his wood working skills. After the passing of his wife, he returned to Paradise to “live out his days” as he had always loved it there.

Bob enjoyed traveling, golf, fishing and watching football, especially the USC Trojans. He was a kind and sweet man, a wonderful loving father, grandfather, uncle and companion with a great sense of humor. He was always making everyone laugh and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joanne, his sisters Vaughnita Gregory, Virginia Madura and his brother William (Bill) Evans. He is survived by his companion, Gerry Cooper, son, Bob Evans (Kimberly) of Escondido, CA; his daughters, Cathy Hooper (Jim) of Dolores, CO; and Terri Cooper (Dave) of Magalia, CA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
