Gail Miller

Obituary of Gail Johnson Miller

Her Legacy… Gail Johnson Miller, 81, passed peacefully in the presence of her daughter Andrea Cox Jenkins the morning of February 28, in her hometown of Oroville, California. Gail was born on March 4, 1937 in Valley Center, KS, to parents Emily Ethel Hall and Calvin Newton Johnson. She grew up in Broken Arrow, OK, before earning a Bachelor of Arts and a teaching credential from the University of Tulsa. Gail spent her young adult life as a public-school teacher before marrying her husband of 28 years, Donald E. "Bud" Miller and making their home in Oroville. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, a brilliant bridge player and an avid reader. Known for her quick wit and no-nonsense style, her lemon squares and beautiful sewing and needle work. She took great pride in her personal appearance and loved shopping, at the mall or at the grocery store, it didn't matter. Above all, Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved children of all ages always and absolutely. Gail dedicated her life to the education, enrichment and happiness of her daughter, her daughter's friends and youth in her community. Offering support, without hesitation, with everything from rides to-and-from school activities and baked goods for fundraisers, to tutoring, financial assistance and mentorship -- it was her true passion, the joy of her life.

Her Family… Gail is survived by her daughter Andrea and her son-in-law Eric Jenkins; grandchildren, Chloe Thompson (husband Bradley), Miller and Hunter Jenkins and great grandson Finnegan Thompson, all of Olympia, WA; three siblings, two nieces and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Her Farewell Service…Her memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1430 Pine St. Oroville. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Gail Johnson Miller to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Northwest SPCA. Arrangements entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
