Obituary of Donley Gilbert Steck
His Legacy...Donley Gilbert Steck was born September 18, 1927 in Oakland, CA. He passed away peacefully on January 18, 2019 in Oroville, CA. Don retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service which included World War II and the Korean War. Don completed a Bachelor of Arts and teaching credentials in English and Library Science at San Diego State University. He taught in San Diego, moved to the North State, then retired from Willows High School. He and his wife of 70 years, Colleen, spent an additional 10 years teaching in six other countries, the “icing” on their teaching careers. In 1996, Don and Colleen retired to their Sierra Foothills property. For the next several years, Don became acquainted with his biological family which involved studying his roots.
His Family.. Don is survived by his wife Colleen of Oroville, his daughter Darla Parker of Cascade, Montana, son Allen of Oroville, brother Delbert Steck of Napa, and grandchildren Tawnya Silvas, Stephanie Nicholas, Ariana Steck, Jeremy Parker, Jodie Knable, Izandra Leno, Daniel Parker, Lyn Ross Martinez, Sean Grumbein, Sean Paulauskis, and Lance Paulauskis. He is preceded in his death by his brother Arthur Steck, daughter Jana Paulauskis, grandson Travis Steck, and granddaughter Leah Paulauskis.
His Farewell Service... Private family services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
