Obituary of Ruth Dale Rush

Ruth Dale Rush died peacefully in Pleasanton, California on January 15th, 2019 at the age of 87.

 

Ruth is survived by her children, Peter Rush (and wife Donna) of Redlands, California, David Rush (and wife Lauren) of Westlake Village, California, Amy Rush of South Pasadena, California and Julie Rush of Danville, California. She has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward Rush.

 

Ruth was born on December 8, 1931 in Stockton, California to David and Elsie Rosenwald. She graduated from The University of California, Berkeley, College of Pharmacy in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. She married Edward, also a pharmacist, in 1953. After later moving to Gridley, California, Edward and Ruth established and operated Spruce Drug Store.  Her children and grandchildren remember her as a kind, generous, creative and comforting mother who encouraged them in all stages of life.  Ruth lived the last several years at Stoneridge Creek Retirement and CreekView Assisted Living Communities in Pleasanton, California.

 

Ruth was a hard working and dedicated individual who loved education and was passionate about developing others. She was an active and committed member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gridley, and Quota International of Gridley.  She often engaged and lead in community events through those and other volunteer organizations

 

A celebration of her life is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 446 Kentucky Street, Gridley with a reception at the church social hall to follow. Rev. Nick Sorani will officiate the celebration. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Quota International of Gridley Charitable Trust at PO Box 144, Gridley, CA 95948. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
