To Shawna, my absolute beloved friend, Wow, you were serious this time when you said it would be the last! Every time we got together I kept telling you to stop that negative sh#$ and try to live life to the fullest. I know it has been some time since many who know you have seen you at your best, but my word, what they have missed! My first thoughts are of you and Lisa Gilbert teaching me to be cool in school cause I was such a “geek” evidently! I remember best our summers and slumber parties, I think you were the first to have a phone in your room, and your lovely cat CES! Also Dougie at the door trying to be included but missing out on the secret girls business! Your sense of humour showed through your choice of music, etc. such as our favourite comedian. Only those who know you best will remember Steve Martin’s wild and crazy guy and King Tut! You were such a great impersonator! Jimmy Buffett’s Cheeseburger In Paradise! This may sound horrible to some but I hope they play Black Widow - Grace Slick from Jefferson Starship for you! You knew those lyrics back to front! We admired her strength and style, of which I have alway thought you had plenty of! Jefferson Starship, Journey, Foreigner, John Lennon, Pat Benatar, Cheap Trick, Fleetwood Mac, so many more we played on my 8 track on the way to school, then cassette in the car and around Oroville when we could break free so many times! You always encouraged me to go for my dreams, but how did I leave yours behind? I know with all my heart and sole how much love you have for your beautiful kids and how it has cracked your heart time after time to live a life without them. I feel your soul soar over me, now in the Southern Hemisphere awaiting your formal goodbye, but as always, you don’t need one... you will soar now without pain or regret because you are now free, my friend, spread your wings and fly, fly so high up into the sky... until we meet again, know you go with all of my love and we will find each other there
