Obituary of Iris Garcia Solis

His Legacy… Iris Garcia Solis, 92 of Oroville, California passed away on December 25, 2018. Iris was born February 28, 1926 in Managua, Nicaragua to Antonio Solis and Leonilda Garcia Solis. Iris married Doris Marjorie Geddes on April 19, 1957 in Reno, Nevada. Iris and Doris had a beautiful marriage that lasted for 61 years. Their marriage stood as a true testament to faith, love and friendship. Iris left his bus touring business in Nicaragua in 1950 to pursue the American Dream. Iris moved to San Francisco, California. He earned an AA degree from San Francisco City College, became a real estate broker for over 40 years. He owned a demolition construction company and retired in the summer of 1977. Iris moved his family to Oroville, California to pursue his dream of opening a family Ace Hardware store. He was the owner of Lake Oroville Ace Hardware for over 34 years. Throughout his life Iris had a positive attitude and often said that if you don’t try you won’t succeed. His steadfast faith in God sustained Iris throughout his life. Iris left a remarkable legacy, as a husband and father, for his family to lovingly remember.

His Family… Iris is survived by his wife, Doris; sons Yvonne, Jimmy, Dennis, Marc; daughter, Diana Lawson; grandsons, Nicholas Lawson, Clayton Lawson, Tyler Lawson, Zachary Lawson, Christian Solis, Nathan Solis, granddaughter, Isabella Solis, son-in-law, Douglas Lawson; daughter-in-law, Julie Solis; brothers Richard Solis, August Solis; as well as loved nieces and nephews.

His Farewell Service… A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson St. Oroville, California. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
