Obituary of Ellen Marie Babb
Her Legacy… Ellen Marie Babb was born Sept. 25, 1932 in Hammond Oklahoma. She was a Dust Bowl baby and moved to Palermo California when she was young. Ellen attended and graduated from both Palermo School and Oroville High School. Ellen married Robert Babb who was a lifelong resident of Palermo on Sept. 19, 1950 in Reno, Nevada. Ellen worked for many years at the cannery and spent 18 years as an aide for the Palermo ChildCare program. She loved being around children. Ellen has a servant’s heart and her children volunteered her for everything when they were young. She was a member of the Palermo Grange for 70 years and always baked cakes for their functions. Ellen and Bob loved to travel and have seen everything west of the Missouri River. Cruising to Alaska, as well as swimming with stingrays in the Caribbean or seeing the changing colors on the eastern seaboard, Ellen never took a trip she didn’t love. Ellen is now on the greatest trip of her life reuniting with family and friends
Her Family… Ellen is survived by her 3 children; Bill Babb and his wife Alice of Portland Maine; Susan and David Reed of Vashon, Washington; Jim and Jonetta Babb of the cultural mecca of Palermo. She also has 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert who passed away in 2009.
Her Farewell Service… A Graveside Farewell Service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd, Oroville California on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Ellen’s name be made to the First Congregational Church of Oroville (530 533-2483).
