Obituary of Lloyd Clair Ponciano

Lloyd Clair Ponciano, Sr, 90, of Biggs, California, passed away on November 30, 2018 at Orchard Hospital in Gridley, where he was recovering from a broken hip. Lloyd Sr was born in Yuba City, California on September 12, 1928 to Frank and Dolly Ponciano who preceded him in death. He is survived by his partner of 19 years, Normae Stinnett, five daughters Karan, Sharon, Robin, Tracy and Shelly, and two sons Lloyd Jr and Richard; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, three grandchildren and three wives.

Lloyd worked as Supervisor for Road Maintenance of Glenn County, where he retired after 20 years. He also worked as a dairyman for a number of years on his farm in Orland, California. After retirement Lloyd helped his son, Lloyd Jr., in his trucking business and drove truck during the harvest season. Lloyd was active in NCARA Auto Racing where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2015. Lloyd enjoyed, hunting, fishing, rodeo’s and spent many years of his life at Deer Creek Lodge in his second home.

The graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Willows Cemetery (800 Eastwood St). A Celebration of Life reception is to follow at 1:00 pm at the Moose Lodge in Gridley, California (1533 CA 99). Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley, California, 530-846-2138.
