Obituary of Betty Hopper

Her Legacy… Betty Bernice Hopper was born on April 8, 1924 in Auburn, California to Merwin and Pearl Barkhaus. She went home to join Jesus, along with her husband Bob and her daughter Joan on November 9, 2018 in Oroville, California. Betty grew up working with her parents in fruit orchards and packing houses. She graduated from high school in 1942, and then served for a short time in the U.S. Marine Corp. On April 6, 1947 she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Hopper, which lasted for 70 years. She and Bob made their home in Palermo, CA for close to 45 years. After moving to Palermo in 1965 Betty became the school librarian at Palermo Elementary. She and Bob attended the Oroville Church of the Nazarene. Betty was loved by all and will be remembered for her smile that she gave to everyone.

 

Her Family… Betty is survived by her son Chris (Toni) Hopper of Redmond, OR; her brother Bud Barkhaus, her son-in-law Gordon McConnell of Oroville, CA; 7 grandchildren, Tracii, Kyle, Kody, David, Kristy, Kelly and Katie, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her daughter Joan McConnell.

 

Her Farewell Service… A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd Oroville, California. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
