Obituary of Pete S Skuris

Pete Spiro Skuris, a Gridley native, passed away on October 11, 2018, in Gridley. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday on September 30th.

Pete was born on the family ranch in Gridley to Louisa Albanese Skuris, originally from Italy, and Spiro Skuris, originally from Greece. He was the youngest of 12 children.

Pete served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married his first wife Peggy, whom he met while serving at Hill AFB in Utah. They had 2 daughters, Katherine and Karen. Peggy passed away in 2001.

After his military service, Pete attended college and became a teacher, principal and administrator.

Pete was loved and admired by many family members, friends and past students, as well as a mentor to many. 

Pete is survived by his wife, Betty Sharp; his daughters, Katherine and Karen; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and honorary daughter, Elaine Filter.

A Rosary for Pete will be said on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 679 Ohio Street, Gridley. A Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 10 am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1560 Hazel Street, Gridley. Burial will be private with military honors.
