Obituary of Melva Ann Valencia

Melva Ann Valencia was born on July 6, 1959 to Frank Valencia and Vida (Ham) Valencia. At 59, she went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2018 after battling a long illness.

Melva was larger than life and had a great sense of humor. She lived for her family and friends who meant the world to her. She was very proud of her Yaqui Indian Heritage. She considered herself a Yaqui Warrior Princess. She loved all sports, especially the Oakland Raiders and college basketball. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Vida Van Beek of Gridley, CA, her children; John Quackenbush of Chico, CA, daughter Michelle (Robert) Valencia-Nigro, 2 grandchildren; Robert and Kayla Nigro, all of Yuba City, CA who were the loves of her life; siblings; Curt (Tomi Karen) Moomau of Newaygo, MI, Becky (Jim) Sanderson of Gridley, CA, Ken (DeAnna) Valencia of Foresthill, CA, Matt Santiago of Sacramento, & Mark Santiago of Yreka; Step-dad Melvin (Sylvia) Santiago of San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews who she adored, also by her companion Craig Wilson of Gridley, CA.

A celebration of life will be held at the Gridley Moose Lodge on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 530-846-2138.
