Obituary of Harry Joseph Liebhauser
His Legacy… Harry Joseph Liebhauser was born on June 14, 1926, in Petaluma, California, to Harry and Cecelia Liebhauser, and spent most of his childhood in Oakland, California. Harry passed away on September 19, 2018 in Oroville, California. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was part of a Carrier Air Service Unit, with a specialty in naval air ordnance. Harry’s family has roots in Forbestown, California since Gold Rush days, and it was there he met the love of his life, Mary Alice Megerle. The couple was married in Chico, California, on February 5, 1949. Harry and Mary Alice spent 65 loving years together until her death on August 9, 2014. They made their home in Forbestown, caring for their parents, children, and other family members. Harry worked in the forestry industry as a mill worker, truck driver, as well as other jobs, and joined the U.S. Forest Service in 1963 where he worked for 25 years until his retirement. He was proud of his tenure as Fire Control Officer of the La Porte District, Plumas National Forest. After retirement, he enjoyed many years managing the couple’s property in Forbestown. Harry was Master Mason and member of Forbestown Lodge No. 50, F.&A.M., for 64 years; he served many years in officer roles and was a Past Master.
His Family… Harry is survived by his daughter Amy Bridges and husband Bob of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; his son Joe Liebhauser and wife Kim of Worland, Wyoming; his grandson Evan Liebhauser of Boulder City, Nevada; granddaughter JoLea Martin and great-grandson Charles of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; and granddaughter KaLea Bennett and great-grandson Hayden of Worland, Wyoming.
His Farewell Service… Harry’s Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. at the Ramsey Funeral Home, 1175 Robinson Street, Oroville, California, 95965. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Keep Memory Alive, 888 West Bonneville Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89106, www.keepmemoryalive.org; or to the California Masonic Foundation, 1111 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108, www.masonicfoundation.org.
