Obituary of David Craig Bruce

His Legacy… David Craig Bruce passed away, on Friday August 17th, 2018, at the age of 68. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his daughter's home in Portales, NM surrounded by his family. He raised his family in the community of Oroville, CA where he lived and worked for over 42 years. David Bruce, sometimes better known as Dave was first and foremost a loving husband, father and grandfather. He believed that marriage and families are eternal and he lived his life that way.  He loved God, attending church and doing things for others.  Dave was a small business owner who loved to volunteer and serve his community. He always worked hard and put others before himself.  Dave was a veteran who served in the Navy as a Seabee in a construction battalion.  He used his acquired knowledge to start a successful equipment rental business, Dave’s Oroville Rental and later Dave’s Party Rental.  He volunteered at his church in many different ways, but the position he loved the best was teaching the children in the nursery.  Dave was on the Oroville Union High School Board for 20 years where he worked tirelessly to pass bond measures to improve facilities. You could always see him on Friday nights at Harrison Stadium patrolling the grounds to make sure it was well taken care of.  In 2007 he brought up the idea of starting a Hall of Fame to recognize successful alumni from Oroville. In 2015 Dave was inducted into the Hall of Fame and a scholarship was created in is honor to recognize students from the area.

His Family… David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie and his 5 children, Allie, April, Daya, Duste, Austin and their spouses. He will also be fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren, his brother Michael and his sister Carol.
