Obituary of Wesley Wayne Dillard

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Gridley Biggs Cemetery for Wesley “Wayne” Dillard, 96 of Gridley. He passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Oroville. He was born one of three children to William and Ethel Dillard, on May 5, 1922 in Bonnerdale, Arkansas. Wayne was a longtime resident of Gridley; he was an avid gardener and fisherman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in France and Germany, and fought at the Battle of The Bulge. He was awarded five bronze stars for his heroic service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by one son; Larry Dillard, and a sister, Evelyn Wallis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Marie Dillard of Gridley; one son, James (Marge) Dillard of Sacramento; one daughter-in-law Cheryl Dillard of Gridley; one brother, William (Cheryl) Dillard of Gridley; two grandsons, James and Garrett Dillard; and one granddaughter, Kelsey Dillard.

Interment will be in the Gridley Biggs Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 530-846-2138.
