Obituary of Dennis Gene Shackleford

Longtime Biggs resident Dennis Gene Shackleford passed away on July 19th at the age of 88 years old.  He was born on May 11, 1930, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, to Robert Yates and Viola May Shackleford, the fourth of nine children.

Dennis or “Dean”, as his family called him, enlisted in the US Army, and served his country proudly, from the end of WWII and the Korean War.  It was during his service while stationed at Johnson Air Force Base in Japan that he met his wife Sadako (Tiny) Sueda.  Married in 1952, Dennis and Tiny moved stateside with their young son Robert (Bob) in 1955, and settled in the Biggs-Gridley area where Dennis worked as a mechanic and Tiny was a nurse.  Dennis and Tiny had three more sons- Dennis Jay (DJ), Sheldon, and Allen.

Upon retirement Dennis continued to enjoy his many hobbies, his favorites being fishing and travelling with Tiny.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved Tiny and sons Bob and Sheldon.  He is survived by sons DJ (wife Debbie) of Gridley and Allen (wife Holly) of Sutter, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
