Wayne and I shared a birthday; I one year younger. We Longs lived across the street next to the Moseleys. We all became "cousins". Wayne was the doctor, dentist, the teacher in whatever we pretended for the day. He was the boss of our age group. There was a female promicuous cat,who had a litter at our house then a litter at the Wixoms; they were our subjects used in pretend for the day. We fed them castor-oil, pulled teeth, etc. The chicken coop was our school house. We ate chicken feed and whatever else was around. The loquat tree was great source of food. Many an itching spell followed the fig tree adventures. Moseleys cow died after eating blossoms of Wixoms bush. I lost my teeth after placing a string between them for high jumping. I fell out of a tree when the parachute made from a bedspread didn't work; also jumping off the house same problem. We had Halloween hayrides that our older brothers couldn't resist adding a fright here and there. All the parents were great friends and helped keep track of us.What a wonderful youth. Wayne is very central to my wonderful memories.
