Mary Wilson

Obituary of Mary Lou Wilson

Her Legacy…  Mary Lou Wilson was born on July 27, 1931 to Will and Gertrude Armstrong in Santa Cruz, CA.  Her family moved to Sacramento where she graduated from McClatchy H.S. in 1949 and Sac State University. She married Randy Wilson in 1956 and the couple lived in Sacramento and Citrus Heights before moving  to Oroville in 1969 when Randy accepted a job as art instructor and golf coach for Butte College.  Mary Lou touched the lives of thousands over 30 years of teaching at Prospect High School. She loved teaching English and Government, helping pregnant teens prepare for motherhood and graduation, and coaching volleyball and softball. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, horseback riding, and caring for the myriad of animals who called Wilson Oaks home.  Her happiest and proudest moments were raising her four children and providing experiences with 4-H, cheerleading, sports, and music.  A true people-person, it seemed Mary Lou knew everyone in Oroville thanks to her dedication and involvement in the community.  After retirement, she volunteered her time with the Mounted Assistance Unit that cleared and cared for the various bridle paths surrounding the river and lake.  She was also very active with the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Loving and kind, Mary Lou lived a life filled with compassion, conversation, and service.

Her Family…  Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Randy Wilson of Oroville; daughter Carrie Wilson and son-in-law Jeff Cann of Seaside; daughter Amanda Menefee and Ken Oda of Pacific Grove; son Adam and daughter-in-law Kristen Wilson of Oroville; son Paul and daughter-in-law Arizo Wilson and grandsons Caden and Cameron of Roseville; sister Nancy Armstrong of Sacramento.

Her Farewell Service…  A Celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2350 Foothill Blvd. in Oroville with a reception at the church to follow.
