Obituary of Ronald William Farr
Ronald W. Farr, a World War II veteran and retired civil servant, died on February 19, 2018. He was 94. He resided at Daniela’s Country Home Care in Oroville where he received excellent care over the past eighteen months.
Ronald was born on December 10, 1923, in Gridley, California. He was the middle of the three boys of Clarence and Margaret Farr. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served admirably for twenty years. He served in both WWII and the Korean War.
He married Patricia Alyice Burgess, a native of Sacramento, on October 18, 1952. Their union resulted in the birth of a daughter: Margaret Ann “Peggy” Farr. Ronald’s hobbies included fishing and hunting with his nephew, Michael Farr. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking fresh fish and wildlife for his family (including rabbits, frogs, deer, pheasants and ducks).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia and his brothers Clarence Morrell and William.
He is survived by his daughter Margaret Ann Farr, his sister-in-law Betty and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military rites will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Friday March 2, 2018. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
