Obituary of Helen Grace Mattos

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Helen G. Mattos, 99 of Biggs. She passed away on Tuesday January 30, 2018 in Gridley. She was born on October 16, 1918 in Avina, CA, one of two children born to Frank and Violet Perry.

The family moved from Gustine to Biggs in the early 50’s where they had a dairy farm west of Biggs. She enjoyed riding her bike, and spending time with her lunch bunch friends. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband A.W. ‘Tony’ Mattos, and one brother Frank Perry.

She is survived by her four sons; Tony (Patty) Mattos of Biggs, Gene Mattos of Biggs, Frank Mattos of Gridley, Richard (Mary) Mattos of Montana, two daughters; Helen Bennett of Gridley, Ann Mattos of Biggs, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren. She was proud of the fact that she had five living generations.

A visitation will be held on Sunday February 4, at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel from 4-6 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m. Contributions to the Knights of Columbus or Gridley Moose Lodge are recommended by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Gridley Biggs Cemetery.
