Obituary of Robert Harry Shields

His Legacy...Robert Harry Shields, born February 4, 1926, in Stockton, California to Harry and Nellie Shields, died January 22, 2018 in Oroville, California. Bob lived in many cities as a child including Boulder City, Nevada where he attended school when his father worked on building the Hoover Dam. Bob attended Oroville HIgh School leaving his senior year to enlist in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Bob worked as an Operating Engineer after the war working on many large construction projects in California including the Oroville and Bullards Bar Dams. He became an instructor at the Operating Engineer tarining school in Rancho Murrieta, California teaching many of today's operators how to run various types of heavy equipment. Bob was known for his ability to diagnose and make any autiomobile repair. He could also fix anything else that the family needed repaired. His number one quality was the love for his wife and family. Bob's large family all shared their love with him throughout his life and his final days. 

His Family...Bob was preceded in death by his son Steven Shields and is survived by his wife Barbara, son Michael (Gail) Shields, daughter Susan (Gary) Simmons, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Richardson. 

His Farewell Service...Graveside services of Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd Oroville, California at the covered pavilion top of the hill.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.

Please join the Shields family family for Bob’s celebration of life which will begin at 2:00 PM at Gold Country Casini, Conference Room B, 4020 Olive Hwy, Oroville. Lunch will be provided but you may bring a dessert item to share if you wish.
