Obituary of Velva Doris Massey

A memorial service will be held on Friday January 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery for Velva D. Massey 88 of Gridley. She passed away on Sunday December 24, 2017. She was born on February 7, 1929 in Shell Knob, Missouri, one of 10 children to James and Flora Barnes.

Velva was a longtime resident of Gridley, having worked at the cannery and as a CNA at the Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital and Valley Oaks Skilled Nursing Center. She enjoyed embroidering and baking. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clint Massey, one brother and 7 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Marcia (Eugene) Perry of Biggs, son Stan (Judi) Massey of Gridley, one sister Wanda Keen of Redding, CA, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests contributions be made to Orchard Hospital’s Hovlid Community Care Center. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
