Obituary of Betty Jo Martinelli
Betty Jo Martinelli, born Aprl 5, 1927 in Searcy, Arkansas. Passed away on December 15, 2017 in Oroville, CA at age 90. Preceded by her loving husband Donald Martinelli of 63 years. she is survived by her four children, Carol Martinelli Reno, NV, Janet Niemeyer Oroville, Lisa Shrewsbury Danville, Scott Martinelli La Qunita, eleven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
As a young women, Betty attended college at USC and worked at Pacific Bell phone company until moving to stockton, CA, where she met and married Don while attending UOP. As a devoted mother, she was actively involved in PTA, Camp Fire Girls and a varitey of after school activities with her children. After raising their family, she worked alongside Don at Ben Ali Veterinary Clinic. Betty loved God, loved people and giving back to her community. Much of her life was devoted to reaching out to others, whether it was a friendly coversation or helping with a practical need. She was actively involved in the Republican Womens Association and held offices in the Sacramento Valley Veteerinary Auxilloary. A faithful member of Faith Legacy Church (formerly Arcade Wesleyan Church) for close to 40 years, she served wherever needed. In addition to serving in children's ministry and hospitality, she spennt countless hours knitting hats for newsborns, crocheting scarves and quilting blanklets for the homeless and those n need. In the words of a recent care provider, "she made this community a better place".
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Faith Legacy Church, 3532 Whitney Avenue in Sacramento, California. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
