Obituary of Anthony 'Tony' Luiz

Anthony ‘Tony’ Luiz Sr. left this world on October 27, 2017 to join God and family. He was born December 18, 1940 to Joe and Fernanda Luiz in Gridley, CA. Tony married his beautiful wife Joan in 1960.

In his younger years he worked for Oliver Duke as a garbage collector, later in life he worked as a yard man with his son. Tony loved his family, friends and being outdoors. His laugh and humor will be missed.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Joe and Manuel Luiz, sister Rosie “Luiz” Melton, and two grandchildren; Joshua and Shawn Whitchurch.

Tony is survived by his wife Joan of 57 years, daughter Teresa (John) Whitchurh of Montana, sons; Tony Luiz Jr., Manuel (Lola) Luiz, and Adam Luiz, all of Gridley, CA, two sisters; Florance King and Adeline Coble, grandchildren; Christopher, John Spencer, Erin, Tanner, Breanna and Aden, and his great-grandchildren; Carson, Grant, and Phoenix.

A visitation will be held Wednesday November 1, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held Thursday November 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, with a potluck to follow, at 1950 Cinnamon Teal Court, Gridley, CA.
