Obituary of Dorothy Evelyn Russell

Dorothy Russell of Gridley passed away at her home on June 19, 2017 at the age of 93, she was surrounded by her family.

Dorothy spent a lifetime giving to her family, her church, her community & many different service organizations.  She was extremely proud of the 18 years, almost 11,000 hours she volunteered for the Butte County Sheriffs Office as Captain of the S.T.A.R.S program.  

Dorothy touched so many lives in her community, she always made the time.  Here are just a few of the many ways:

Member & Elder of the First Presbyterian Church Gridley & more recently Marysville Presbyterian for 50 years where she also sang in the choir and played in the bell choir.

Quota member for 40+ years of which she served 2 terms as President and 2 terms as Governor.

Lifetime member of Gridley PTA.

15 years with the Pink Lady Aux.

Eastern Star member since 1947.

President of Gridley Chamber of Commerce. 

Campfire and Cub Scout Leader. 

Past President of the Mother's club for both Rainbow Girls and DeMoley.

She served on many other local boards and committees. 

Her and her husband owned Russell Motor Sales and Russell Mini Storage in Oroville

Dorothy is survived by a son and two daughters, six grandchildren, & great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen and sons Robert & Tom.

A celebration of life open house will be held at the family home on July 15th, 2017 at 11 a.m.
