Debbie Campbell

Obituary of Debbie Michaele Campbell

Debbie Michaele (Brown) Campbell, 66, stepped into eternity on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at her home in Oroville, California.  She was born on December 10, 1957, in Chico, California.  Debbie was the beloved first born of Joan and Richard Brown. This light of their lives made her entrance during a very foggy winter, necessitating a long drive to Enloe Hospital with Richard holding open the driver’s door to follow the highway center line. Much of her childhood was spent in Venetia, Chico, Likely, and Los Molinos, where she was quickly joined by four siblings. She participated in 4-H, the Miss Modoc Pageant, and mastered writing her own excuses from PE classes. She graduated from Los Molinos High School, completed a medical office management program at The Bryman School in Sacramento, and later became a certified medical assistant. As an office manager and transcriptionist, Debbie supported several Chico-area doctors’ offices, including Doctors MacDonald, Westcott, and Orthopedic Associates of Northern California, before retiring from Oroville Hospital Post Acute Care Center.

The light of Debbie's life was her daughter & only child, Jenny (Wolstenholm) Reed, and to whom she served as a role model as a single, working mother with strong connections to family and home, and who faced everyday with courage, faith, and joy. Together, Debbie and Jenny enjoyed many adventures, including road trips, camping, train travel, and visits to the coast. While she was an avid reader, casual gardener, and appreciated antiques, Debbie was most passionate about caring for others, which she did selflessly and ceaselessly.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Nora Reed, Claire Reed, Ava Reed, Owen Reed, and Lucy Reed, her daughter, Jenny, her parents, Joan and Richard, her siblings Dickie Wade (Steve), Rick Brown (Karen), Andy Brown (Jerry Cushman), and Quint Brown (Pam), and several nephews and a niece. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Edith and Les Brown, and Goldie Maynard. Former spouses include Mike Williams, Ron Wolstenholm, and Brian Campbell.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the friendship of Pastor Cory DeForrest and Susie and Jim Hoopes, as well as the compassionate team at Dialysis Clinic, Inc. in Oroville. Debbie is greatly missed, though her family rests in the certainty of her continued existence at the side of our Heavenly Father.

A service honoring her life will be held on April 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM; Pursuit Christian Church, 2295 Foothill Blvd in Oroville.
