Charlotte Ross

Obituary of Charlotte Ross

Her Legacy…“I wouldn’t have made it through high school if it wasn’t for Charlotte.” Helping others is what Charlotte did best, and it’s what filled her heart with immeasurable joy. Charlotte’s lasting legacy is one of fierce loyalty and boundless LOVE—sometimes tough, often compassionate, and always genuine. She was born January 3, 1944 in Oroville to Stanley and Viola Post. She grew up on a ranch in Bangor, suffered the tragic loss of her father at age 11, graduated from Oroville High School in 1961, and attended Yuba College. She found her life calling at Oroville High School, where she worked over 30 years as the attendance secretary. Charlotte was a huge sports fan, coaching her son’s Little League teams, running the score table for OHS basketball teams, and recording accurate times as the head timer for track. Many have been blessed by Char’s cooking, others by her floral arranging, many more by her hospitality. Charlotte took her last breath in the early morning of December 6, 2017 with her most cherished son, Steve, by her side.

Her Family… Charlotte is survived by her son Steve and his wife Lisa, and her two most precious grandchildren, Samantha and Reid.

Her Farewell Service… Charlotte will be laid to rest next to her parents in Upham Cemetery in Bangor, California at 8a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Friends and family will gather at 10:30 a.m. in the Oroville High School gymnasium on Bridge Street to celebrate her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlotte Ross Memorial Scholarship fund. Please contact the Oroville Union High School District office at (530) 538-2300 for details. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home, 530-534-3877.
