James "Jim" Benjamin Gowen
His Legacy… Jim was born on Aug. 5, 1924 in Piedmont MO to Elsie & Samual Gowen. He passed away on Jan. 25, 2020 in Oroville California. He was a precious husband, father & grandfather. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and was always building something, especially bird houses. He also loved his 73 Chevy pickup truck. Jim was a WWII Veteran having served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He served during the Battle of the Bulge on the front lines and was a combat engineer in Germany in 1944. Jim worked for Pacific Coast for 15 years and helped clear space for the Oroville Dam.
His Family…Jim is survived by his loving wife Wilma Pauline Gowen, 2 sons Jimmie & Micheal Gowen of Oroville, California and 2 daughters Jeanice Dugger of Branson, MO & Janet Stone of Hawaii, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren along with 2 brothers Albert of Salem, MO, Samual of Piedmont, MO, and 1 sister Elsie of Piedmont MO. Many other family members and friends loved him and will miss him dearly. He was preceeded in death by his parents 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
His Farewell Service… A Graveside Burial Service will take place on Monday, Februay 3, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville California. Arrangements are entrusted to Oroville Funeral Home (530) 533-0323.
