Obituary of Charlotte Rae Hemsley

Her Legacy. . . Charlotte Rae Hemsley was born on November 23, 1919 in Los Angeles, California.  She spent the first 45 years of her life in the Los Angeles area.  She married Thomas Hemsley in 1938 and they raised 2 sons.  She and Tom moved to Oroville in 1964.  They owned a farmhouse and property in Bangor where they raised pigs and other farm animals.  She has 6 grandchildren and loved spending time with them throughout their lives.  Charlotte loved country life; gardening, baby animals, canning fruits & vegetables and visiting neighbors.  She was very involved in Bangor Community Church for many years.  She lived in Oroville for the last 29 years of her life.  She was known for her sharp wit, generous heart, determination, independence and humor. She is deeply loved by her family and many friends.  All those who knew her will treasure their memories of her.  She was an amazing woman and lived a long, rich life.  She is rejoicing now with the Lord Jesus in heaven.

Her Family. . .Charlotte is survived by her son Edward (Linda) Hemsley of Oroville, and her grandchildren; Mark Hemsley of Hayward, CA, Jeff Hemsley of New York, Scott (Karen) Hemsley and Adam Hemsley of Antiock, CA, Gary (Rene`e ) Hemsley of Woodland, CA, Lisa (Phil) Smith of Santa Rosa, CA. and 19 Great Grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband Thomas Hemsley, her son Lawrence Hemsley and 2 sisters; Mable Peek and Bernice Stoffel.

Her Farewell Services. . . A visitation for Charlotte will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm along with her Farewell Service on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at 11:30 am.  Both will be held at Oroville Funeral Home, 1454 Montgomery Street, Oroville California. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery 5646 Lincoln Blvd. Oroville, CA.  Arrangements are entrusted to Oroville Funeral Home (530) 533-0323.
