Obituary of Kelly Curtis Sanders

Kelly Curtis Sanders was born on June 3, 1959 in Hayward, California to parents, Thomas Leonard Sanders, Jr. and Marilyn (Jennings) Sanders.  He died unexpectedly at his home in Oroville, California on April 27th, 2024.

He spent his childhood in Hayward, California. While Kelly Was in Las Vegas, Nevada he met the love of his life, Beverly (Cartwright) Sanders and on May 11th, 1985, they married in Morro Bay, California. They went on to have two children, a son Kacey, and daughter Jamie.

Kelly served our country honorably, by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. And lived in Mildenhall & Suffolk, England, Vandenburg AFB, CA, Marysville, CA and Middleton, Wisconsin. Eventually moving to Oroville about 30 years ago, to help care for his mother in her later years and he was delighted to be close to his mother and his siblings families again.

Kelly’s life’s passion was Rock & Roll.  He worked as a roadie for Yesterday and Today or Y&T (his absolute favorite), as well as working with so many Big-Name bands, such as AC/DC, Kiss, Ozzy, Queen, UFO, 415, and The Eric Martin Band, all over Wisconsin and California.  He didn’t just roadie, but worked sound and lighting.  He was a very talented songwriter and in later years, he wrote songs and sang with his own band, “Jolly Roger”.  He made sure he passed his love of Rock and Roll onto his children, and as many nieces and nephews as would rock out with him, enjoying buying music for the kids to enjoy, and taking them to concerts.

He is survived by his wife Beverly (Cartwright) Sanders, his son Kacey, and daughter Jamie, and their children; Julien, Konner, Katalina, William, Hailey-Jo, Mattie, Natalie, Maddison, Sydney and Sophia. As well as his great-grandchildren; Paisley, Jace and Addison. His sister Shawn Sanders Ramsey and brother, T. Leonard Sanders, III, and his step-siblings, Rick Sanders, and Susie Sanders Eidson, as well as his Step-mother Luella (Critchfield) Sanders, his nephew, Thomas, 5 nieces, Meredith, Anastasia, Jennifer, Lexi and Mikalia, and many many great nephews and nieces.
