Marjorie Ann Watson February 17, 1938- July 29, 2026

Marjorie Ann Watson, 88, of Roseville, California, passed away on July 29, 2026.

Marjorie was born in Gridley, California in 1938 to Etta S. and Frank X. Watson. She was the granddaughter of two early pioneer settler families, Mary Francis and John Everett Watson, and Lucy Jane and Clarence Wesley Tarrant.  Marjorie attended Gridley schools, playing field hockey and basketball. She saved for college by working for an aunt at her nursery in Pico Rivera. She graduated from Gridley Union High School in 1956.

She went on to graduate from the Dental Hygiene program at UC Berkeley, which was part of the Medical School at UC San Francisco. She returned to school to become a teacher, teaching PE, math and science in addition to coaching baseball at Sam Brannan Middle School in Sacramento until her retirement.

She loved to travel and visited many parts of the world both before and after her retirement. She also was enthralled by photography and planned her travels to take beautiful photographs. Some of her travels included China, Japan, Great Britain, the Panama Canal, Alaska and Hawaii.

Marjorie also enjoyed golf, both playing it and watching the sport. Some of her most enjoyable memories were going to Tahoe with her sister and watching the Pro Am golf tournaments. The two sisters enjoyed watching all sports together, often going to games or watching them on television. She was a fishing enthusiast, fishing for Striper from her own boat on the Sacramento River.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Etta Watson. She is survived by her brother, Richard Watson; sister Patty Watson; as well as her niece and nephew, Melissa Watson and Jason Watson and their children.

A service will be held at 10 am on August 14, 2026, at the gazebo in the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
