Betty Jean Spencer

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery at noon for Betty Jean Spencer, 92, of Gridley. She passed away April 14, 2026 at Orchard  Hospital.

Betty was born December 21, 1933 in Aldrich, Missouri to Howard and Alcie Copeland moving to Gridley in 1948. Betty was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

When Betty was in high school she worked at a Marysville clothing store and modeled clothing there. She graduated from Gridley High School in 1953 and enjoyed Home Economics, Circle G, Future Homemakers and Band. She also attended Yuba College.

She married Winfred Spencer of Live Oak, Ca., October 3, 1954 at her parent's home.

Betty was a homemaker and was an Avon representative for several years winning many awards and enjoyed sewing her own clothes.

The Spencer's built their home in Gridley and had son Bradley in 1963.The family enjoyed traveling together. Betty especially loved fashions. She enjoyed her time as a Den Mother while Bradley was in Boy Scouts.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Win, her parents Howard and Alcie Copeland, her son Bradley and her in-laws Paul and Edith Eppler of Woodland, CA.

Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law Lynne Spencer of Gridley; grandson Jeremiah Smith of Gridley; granddaughter Sarah (Morgan) Millar and two great-granddaughters Isla and Zoey Millar of Martinez, Ca.
